[Pexers Writer-Ups] SJT’s World : Transformations Episode 4
This episode is about the transformations of Jung Tae and Gaya into adults who will face each other from opposing camps.
Gaya’s transformation started on the night her father died. She had prevented Shinichi from killing Jung Tae twice, but vowed to kill him and his father herself. However, she kept that reservation that someone else might have killed her father.in the meantime Shin Jo disappeared with the fortune teller.
Gaya goes with Shinichi who is responsible for training her to be a fighter while receiving his vow of protection. Unknowingly, Gaya fought and wounded Aka (his father’s killer) while training. Another mysterious Japanese guy warned her that “they” are just using them. He gave her an advice on how to deal with Aka which proved effective.
We also learned here the unfolding mystery behind Gaya’s identity. Shinichi called her mother a princess before the Yakuza boss. The boss’ order is beginning to sound like low intensity conflict operations to pave the way for Japanese takeover of lands. Gaya grew up into a full grown woman under the protective gaze of Shinichi.
De Ggoo who transferred allegiance to Shinichi for opportunistic reason tried to bait JT with money for him to jump the train. But JT wanted him to double his offer. We know the amount he asked for was intended for his sister’s surgery.
Jung Tae learned there is science and art of jumping trains. The time came that he applied everything he has acquired. The methods worked because he succeeded in breathtaking human effort against the iron machine speeding through its tracks. But one thing the Dobi gang didn’t prepare him were the bandits lurking and waiting to pounce on train jumpers.
Jung Tae was saved from bleeding to death from the bandits’ stab wounds by two men who later brought him in back to the Dobi gang. But when JT awoke he found Ok Ryeon as usual by his bedside and ilearned about Chung Ah’s suicide.
From the loss of his first love to the loss of his sister, Jung Tae’s grief knew no bounds.
Did he carry his tragic losses to his adulthood ?
Jung Tae now an adult, strode alone with a definite purpose towards a gang’s headquarter. He becomes the solo human fighting machine as he was greeted by an unwelcoming bunch of thugs. Each one succumbed under his powerful fists. He walked into the inner room with nary a knock but announced his arrival with shattered glasses and the body of a fallen man.
He stood tall and mighty before the startled group inside.
In this episode we get to travel deeper into Shin Jung Tae’s world. It is dark and dangerous, full of excitement if you will. But sometimes you wished these kids who have lost their youth so soon, as they are plunged early on to the adult world, be given times to laugh and to have fun.
How fast our characters grew(as if we weren’t impatiently waiting for KHJ to appear!). We still do not know how JT, unlike Gaya, further trained to become a one man demolition machine. Honestly,I’d like to see an episode which I can give the title “The Romance of Smuggling”.
We are sad we are saying goodbyes to their younger versions who did their job very well -I see awards. But life goes on. They grow old. And meet again for the next episodes under extenuating circumstances.
So enjoy the new, improved and cool Shin Jung Tae aka Kim Hyun Joong. His handsome features and look of gentleness -beware, don’t make him angry! But you are allowed to drool.
Gangsters galore in and outside Korea. They represent a world of uncertainty where people need to survive in the ways they know how.But they are also power brokers who ordinary people resort to for assistance. Not all are bad, some are nice and caring and good looking. Some are well entrenched and powerful like the Yakuza.
