Baek Mir and Shin Jung Tae in Revenge Dramas 2 [Inspiring Generation 2014]
SHIN JUNG TAE OF INSPIRING GENERATION
Come to think of it Baek Mir came back as Shin Jung Tae of Inspiring Generation. Given the similarity of the revenge plot of the stories, the father issues, the dramas being both action filled and same broadcasting TV network, KBS. Just plain coincidence?
Except Inspiring Generation is a drama set in the 1930’s in South Korea and Shanghai. Hyun Joong said for him this was the closest getting on a time machine as he had to have a haircut, voice intonation and even the kind of physical training befitting the time period.
IG showed KHJ as Shin Jung Tae in breathtaking realistic fight scenes shot in the dead of winter on location. His manner of speaking was clear and concise. His facial expressions and body language showed his pain, his happy dispositions at times, anger and disgust, the love he slowly realised was for Ok Ryeon though he gave his heart for Gaya first.
We impatiently waited for the days of the week for Shin Jung Tae to appear on our small screens because we have forgotten Kim Hyun Joong . Shin Jung Tae, his is a compelling presence, bigger than life, a stunning fighting machine. He did not need expensive looking attires to look formidable.
KHJ gave his all, we could tell, to be Shin Jung Tae. He defied fatigue, cold weather, adverse working conditions, even when the pay became problematic and the rating were not as high as expected. He still found the time to sing ” As Time Passes” the last of the OST for the drama.
Finally, Kim Hyun Joong fulfilled a long awaited dream, another challenge conquered to be a seriously recognised actor in a difficult genre. If two other actors refused that role, it must have been reserved all along for him. Born to be Sirasoni on the screen.
